Mark's US Immigration: Mission launched
Date: Monday, March 21 @ 09:57:21 PST Topic: Mark's Immigration
As you might have read already, Michelle has arrived in Holland last Tuesday! Obviously it is great to be back together again, even though it's only for two weeks.
After catching up with some sleep (who invented jet-lags anyways??), we went to the US Consulate in Amsterdam on Wednesday, to file for my immigration.
We've done quite some preparations before going there, so it was pretty certain to go well, still we were obviously a little nervous... :)
Of course, all went well and within an hour we were standing outside the (double-fenced! :)) building again.
They accepted our petition and told us that the entire procedure is going to take about 10 weeks. We've read some other couples' stories online though and our guess it that everything will be settled in about 6 weeks (knock on wood!! :)).
After they accepted our petition, they told us that the next stack of forms would be sent by mail in the next few days. Little did we know that they are SUPER FAST at the US Consulate: The envelope with more forms was already on the door mat on Thursday morning!
Since I had already prepared those forms earlier (where would we be without the Internet?? :)), it wasn't a big deal to fill out those next forms. I filled them out and dropped 'em off at the post office the same day.
So right now we're waiting for the Consulate to send me more forms and an appointment date for my medical exam. After having a medical exam in Amsterdam, it should take around 2 weeks before I have a "final interview" at the Consulate again, which should be followed by a sealed envelope containing my visa............ fingers crossed y'all!! ;-)
We'll keep you posted... more news about the wedding soon too!
