Hotels in San Francisco

Ik weet op dit moment nog niet hoe lang iedereen van plan is om in San Francisco te blijven, maar houd er in ieder geval rekening mee dat ons huwelijksfeest in een hotel zal plaatsvinden (nog niet zeker welk hotel) en dat we waarschijnlijk wel een groepskorting kunnen regelen voor de overnachting van onze gasten. Wacht daarom nog even met het boeken van een hotel op 19 en 20 augustus!

De rest van je vakantie moet je zelf maar indelen, waarbij natuurlijk geldt dat je altijd voor advies hier op het Forum terecht kunt. Wink

Definitely trying to get a good rate on the hotel. If that hotel doesn't cooperate, (which they better!!) I'll look for somewhere cheaper. Don't worry.. I'll do my best! Cause you know.. want the better present.. Very Happy

Hmm, apparently I'm getting ignored because I posted this in the wrong thread so here goes again:

Eh King Kater, cheap as I am I can't afford to stay in some fancy fandankle little hotel. Therefore I've been checking out some hostels in downtown SF (www.hostel.com). Can you tell me which of the following is recomandeble location wise?:

European Hostel - 761 Minna Street
Globetrotters Inn - 225 Ellis St. (@ Manson St)
Union Square Backpackers Hostel - 70 Derby Lane (@geary on taylor)

Since I go to school downtown, I'm somewhat familiar with the locations.

European Hostel - Not too familiar with the area, but I do know that is a long way from downtown. You can get there easily by taking one bus though.

Globetrotters Inn - So, I'm not a huge fan of walking in that area mainly because I did once and it was extremely uncomfortable. There's like a border from downtown and a bad part of town, and to get to that Inn, you have to cross that border. Anyways, I don't recommend it.

Union Square Backpackers Hostel - Two blocks from Union Square. Actually near of my school buildings. It's an alright area, and the location is nice cause you are in downtown. A couple blocks away from the cable car too which can take you down to Fisherman's Wharf.

I could try to find out more for you if you'd like. Though.. I'm not walking in that bad part of town.. sorry Very Happy

Anyways, I see my fiance has been helping you out already... Smile

I have one addition to your list of hostels: the Green Tortoise. When I was living in SF, a friend of mine used to "live" in that hostel and he seemed to like it there. It's in the North Beach district... which has a lot of nightlife, clubs etc... thought you might be interested in that, you party animal you! Very Happy

Just FYI, we're still negotiating a good rate for the hotel where everybody else is (most likely) staying. We'll keep you posted on that. I think it might be just as much fun to stay in the same hotel as the rest... depending on the $$$ of course. Wink

I understand that the discount rate will only count for the 19 th and 20th August? or does it count for the whole week we'll be in SF? Because then we'll have to change hotel twice...

Seriously Steevus, please take a cup of warm milk, sit down, and relax a little... I believe this is the 17th time you've been asking about the hotel, either thru this Forum, by e-mail or by MSN.
As I've told you before, we're still negotiating with the hotel about a good rate, for the ENTIRE week that you're all there. Where did you read about the 19th and 20th anyways??

So please just trust Michelle to take care of it. You do realize that it is still more than FIVE months until you actually come over, right? So just book your flight, while we're working on the rest... ("the rest" is quite some more than just your hotel room btw..)

One general request to you and everybody else who's planning to come: What are your arrival and departure dates of your stay in San Francisco? Right now we've told the hotel that it will be from August 17th to 24th, but this will probably vary from person to person. If you'd like to let us know thru this Forum or by e-mail, that would help us out a lot Wink

especially when it's hot. And I'm always relaxed I just want to have things clear and I don't want to end up in a hostel as we did in New York (remember Very Happy

). You're the one who talked about the 19th and 20th in you're own forum.
By the way; I have a great idea about a wedding present for you guys but I'm not gonna tell you what it is. You wait and see. It's only five months away.
